Meet Our Leadership
John H. "Johnny" Bell
John H. "Johnny" Bell, BS, RPh owned and operated successful retail pharmacies and home medical equipment businesses in Alabama after graduating from Auburn University School of Pharmacy.
In the early 1980s, while performing consulting services for a local hospital, Johnny recognized that Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) was covered by Medicare as a home therapy. Realizing the advantages of home infusion over hospitalization, he began providing a number of intravenous medications to patients in the local community.
The satisfaction gained from improving the quality of life of the patients in their homes prompted him to form Vital Care Home Parenteral Services in 1986. After receiving repeated requests to become a provider, he established a clinical, marketing, and billing team that became the framework on which Vital Care built its franchise organization. With a new name and legal registration in multiple states, Vital Care Home Infusion Services achieved rapid franchise growth throughout the Southeast.
Johnny located the Vital Care, Inc. corporate headquarters in Meridian, Mississippi. From his office here, and from wherever he goes, Johnny sets the example of the Vital Care family building relationships and providing the best possible service. He established our mission to be the premier national network of individually owned infusion providers. He is dedicated to ensuring we provide quality patient care and maintain standards dictated by organizations such as Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), Healthcare Quality Association on Accreditation (HQAA), and The Joint Commission (TJC).

Johnny was raised in Sumter County, Alabama where he met his wife, Sue. After they graduated from Auburn University, they moved to Decatur in North Alabama prior to relocating to West Alabama and Florida. Johnny and Sue have three children, Scarlet, Jonathan, and Natalie. They also have five wonderful grandchildren. Johnny and Sue really enjoy spending time with family and friends. They like to travel, visit their farm in Sumter County, and they routinely attend Auburn football games – War Eagle!
Chief Executive Officer
Ed Eiland, Pharm.D., MBA, BCPS, FASHP serves as Vital Care Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer. He leads the company with the vision of caring about every patient with an understanding that what we do is truly vital. He manages with the mission for Vital Care to be the premier national network of individually owned infusion providers by offering comprehensive business solutions, clinical tools, revenue cycle management, franchise support, and total resource access. This holistic approach results in happy franchise owners and healthy patients across our network of over 60 locations in nearly two dozen states. Providing home infusion access to more patients across the United States is why we do what we do.
Dr. Eiland is a member of Vital Care’s nutrition, clinical and revenue qualification teams. He is a Fellow of ASHP and has served as president of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He served on the ASHP Council on Therapeutics, and he received an ASHP Best Practices Award for his studies in Clostridium difficile infections. He has published his findings and observations in over 20 journals and has authored over 100 posters at various local, state, and national pharmacy and medical meetings.
Prior to joining Vital Care, Dr. Eiland was the clinical practice and business supervisor for Huntsville Hospital for 13 years. While there, he became Board Certified in infectious diseases, and he served on the 24-hour nutrition support and pharmacokinetics team. He managed parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition, anti-infectives, IV cardiac inotropes, factor dosing, and other therapies utilized both in the acute care and alternate site of care.
Dr. Eiland received his Pharm.D. from the University of Texas and completed a PGY-2 residency at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He obtained his MBA from Auburn University.
He was born and raised in North Louisiana and is married to a Texan, Dr. Lea Eiland, who serves as a Clinical Professor and Associate Department Head at Auburn University, Harrison School of Pharmacy. Ed and Lea enjoy spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, and floating their boats on the water.
Director of Pharmacy Operations
Rob Nelson, Pharm.D., serves as Vital Care Inc.’s Director of Pharmacy Operations. In this role he is responsible for helping each of Vital Care’s teams and Directors accomplish their goals as part of the corporate mission to partner with pharmacy owners across America to provide patients with professional, compassionate, safe, and cost-effective infusion services.
Prior to joining Vital Care, Rob spent over 13 years at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, AL as a Clinical Pharmacist, Director of Clinical Services, and most recently as Director of Pharmacy. Prior to that he spent nine years as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and assisted in the management of the Pharmacy Residency Program for PGY1 residents at Huntsville Hospital. He has held leadership roles with many organizations, including President of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He also was appointed by the governor to the Alabama Board of Pharmacy in 2007, and served on the Board for five years. He is Board Certified in Pharmacotherapy, and has spent much of his career helping manage hospital patients with therapies such as anti-infectives, parenteral and enteral nutrition, and various infusion therapies.
Dr. Nelson received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, and Pharm.D. from Samford University. He completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Rob grew up in Demopolis, Alabama, and has family there and in communities close to Meridian, Mississippi. He met his wife, Natalie, who is also a pharmacist, while in school at Samford. They have two sons, Andrew and Jared. Rob loves spending time with family and enjoys hunting, lawn care, landscaping, and golfing.
Director of Human Resources
As the Director of Human Resources at Vital Care, Inc., Deena Crane is responsible for policies, procedures and processes related to Human Resources, including recruitment, staffing, on-boarding, performance reviews, and benefits, while adhering to Federal, state and industry laws and regulations.
Deena’s HR career began in the mid- 1980s, working as a supervisor for work-study students at Meridian Community College. In the late 1980s, she was recommended and selected for a position with a new joint venture of the United Auto Workers and General Motors called the UAW-GM Human Resource Center, whose main objective was to assist dislocated workers with employment and education opportunities. After a move, she expanded her experience with a position at a local temporary employment service. That “job” led to her returning home to Meridian and beginning her “career” in HR, opening the fourth office for that company, and staying with The Holland Group (THG) for almost a decade. Her roles at THG included Placement Coordinator, Office Manager, Director of Sales, Regional Director, and Director of Operations & Projects. When THG was sold through a corporate acquisition, she returned again to Meridian and began work for L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace, where she was the Human Resources Manager for a workforce of 273 aviation professionals. Immediately prior to joining Vital Care, Inc., she worked for two years in HR and Training with Mississippi Power’s Kemper County Energy Facility.
After graduating and while working at MCC, Ms. Crane received an Associate of Arts degree, a certificate in Data Processing, and a certificate in Paralegal Technology. The vast majority of her HR training came from on-the-job situations and opportunities. She returned to college at Mississippi State University and in 2011 received Her Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in Business and Psychology. She has held PHR (Professional of Human Resources) certification since 2010, and SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Managers - Certified Professional) certification since its inception in 2015.
Deena is from and has lived in Meridian, MS for more of her life than anywhere else. Her parents have been married for 55 years, and she has three brothers and one sister, along with four nephews and three nieces. Her hobbies include travel (especially to beaches), spending time with friends, music (preferably live concerts), reading, and football (MSU, Saints and Cowboys).
Director of Franchise Development
Logan Davis serves as Vital Care Inc.’s Director of Franchise Development, where he leads teams responsible for payer contracting, trade contracting, business operations support, business development, sales, marketing, and franchise events.
He has been in the home infusion industry since 2008, working in both operations and business development. From 2008 until 2012 he was Director of Clinical Services at the Vital Care of Meridian franchise, where he worked in home infusion and specialty pharmacy operations, and business development. He transitioned to his current role at Vital Care corporate in 2012, and then he also co-founded a successful Vital Care franchise in Alabama with a pharmacy school classmate. He serves on various industry Boards such as the Board of Directors for the National Home Infusion Association (2014-present), Mississippi Medicaid P&T Committee (2016-present), and serves as a speaker for various pharmaceutical manufacturers. Dr. Davis has authored several articles related to home infusion and specialty pharmacy in industry trade publications, and has been a guest speaker at national industry conferences.
Dr. Davis completed his undergraduate and pharmacy coursework at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and received a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in May 2008. Subsequently he completed business administration coursework at Mississippi State University and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in December 2013.
He is from Sumter County in rural Alabama, growing up only 30 miles from where he now lives and works. He met his wife while attending college at Samford and moved her from Birmingham, AL to Meridian, MS. The Davis’ have two beautiful girls, and when not working they enjoy spending time with them. Logan’s other hobbies include running, reading, golfing, playing guitar, and following Alabama Crimson Tide football.
Director of Revenue Cycle Operations
As Vital Care, Inc.’s Director of Revenue Cycle Operations, Jay Howell is responsible for maintaining productivity and stability to ensure the financial health of the Vital Care franchise network.
Prior to joining Vital Care, Jay spent six years at Rush Health Systems in Meridian, MS, where he held multiple management-level positions, including roles in clinic and physician practices, hospital business services, information services, and accounting.
Jay is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration, and a Master of Business Administration, both from Mississippi State University.
Originally from Nashville, TN, Jay and his wife, Mary Ann, live in Meridian with their two children, Henry and Molly. Jay has served locally on the Board of Directors for the United Way of East Mississippi and the Meridian Museum of Art. Jay and his family are members of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, and they enjoy spending their free time together outdoors.
Director of Financial Services
Louise Mock is the Director of Financial Services for Vital Care, Inc., a leading national home infusion pharmacy franchise organization based in Meridian, Mississippi. With over 60 locations across nearly two dozen states, she utilizes her knowledge and experience to lead the team members responsible for ensuring the franchise pharmacies are reimbursed for the vital services they provide while caring for their patients. In doing this, she exemplifies our corporate culture, vision, and mission of how we treat people and why we do what we do to provide more patient access to home infusion therapies.
Ms. Mock has been with Vital Care, Inc. for 20 years, serving on our Executive Management Team for over 15 years. She has served on the National Home Infusion Association education committee for five years. She has presented reimbursement-related subjects at national conferences, and served as a facilitator of round table discussions on topics related to home infusion. Prior to joining Vital Care, she served as Manager of Information Technology for McGregor Printing Corporation, a computer forms printing company with manufacturing and distribution centers located throughout the United States. She was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the computer network system.
Louise received her Associate of Arts degree in Information Technology from Alabama Southern Community College.
She was raised in Central Alabama. She has two children and eight grandchildren who make life fun and entertaining. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and reading is her favorite hobby.
Director of Corporate Outreach
Chris Newlin is the Director of Corporate Outreach at Vital Care, Inc., where he leads a team responsible for developing value-based programs and resources for Vital Care pharmacy franchisees, with the goal of implementing and advancing strong home infusion pharmacy services in support of our vision and mission. This group of preeminent professionals addresses topics related to pharmacy operations support, clinical pharmacy services, infusion nursing services, quality assurance programs, and regulatory standards.
Prior to assuming his current role as the Director of Corporate Outreach, Dr. Newlin joined Vital Care in 2012 as Project Manager and the Residency Program Director. He currently is a member of our nutrition, clinical, quality assurance, and revenue qualification teams. Chris completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with Huntsville Hospital, where he managed patients receiving parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition, anti-infective therapy, IV cardiac inotrope therapy, immunoglobulin therapy, and numerous other specialty therapies in the acute care and alternate site of care setting, specifically with the hospital’s outpatient infusion center. He serves on various industry boards including ASHP’s Section Advisory Group on Home Infusion, NHIA’s Standards/Accreditation Committee, and MHA’s Home Infusion Advisory Board. Dr. Newlin has published numerous articles related to home infusion pharmacy in industry trade publications, and has authored several posters focused on clinical and operational findings at national healthcare meetings, including IDSA, NHIA, and ASHP. He has twice received the Alabama Quality Award for his work related to Antimicrobial Management Teams.
Chris received his Bachelor of Science in 2007 and his Pharm.D. in 2011 from Auburn University, and his PGY-1 residency in Huntsville, Alabama. He will graduate with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in December 2017.
Chris was born in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Macon, GA. He met his wife in Auburn, and they have three wonderful children. Chris enjoys spending time with his family and participating in lots of activities in the great outdoors.
Director of Information Technology
Brad Pigott serves as Vital Care, Inc.’s Director of Information Technology. He is responsible for the management, strategy, and execution of IT infrastructure. This includes: Overseeing technical projects in alignment with organizational goals; directing the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes; preparing financial budgets and presenting proposals for capital projects to senior executives; researching and recommending new products; and leading efforts to improve IT processes.
Brad has 15 years of experience in health care information technology. He started his career at the Mississippi Baptist Health System in Jackson, MS. From there he joined Ascension Health Information Technology as the Integration Manager, overseeing the integration of the clinical EHRs for four health systems.
Mr. Pigott earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 2001 from Mississippi College. He stayed on and received his Master of Science in Computer Science in 2003 from Mississippi College.
Brad loves college football. His wife Amy is a pharmacist in charge for Walmart. They have two children, Lily and James. Their favorite vacation spot is Disney World.
Director of Sales
Christian VonDrehle serves as Vital Care, Inc.’s Director of Sales. He works to drive business through coaching and teaching the sales teams across our franchise network of over 60 locations in nearly two dozen states. He also develops and maintains strategic partnerships with our vendors and manufacturing partners. As a team, all of us at Vital Care are successful facilitating and supporting the opportunities and challenges our franchise locations encounter every day. No matter the role or responsibility, we take pride in supporting locations through an all-hands-on-deck approach, knowing that what we do is vital, so that is why we care.
Christian’s career in home infusion services began in 2009 when he was hired by NuCara Pharmacy. At the time NuCara had a thriving compounding business in Austin, TX and they had just opened a Vital Care franchise. They hired Christian to develop their home infusion business line in Central Texas. Then in 2012 the NuCara group graciously supported his opportunity to join Vital Care corporate as a Franchise Sales Representative. Continued growth and success allowed Mr. VonDrehle to advance to his current role as Director of Sales for Vital Care, Inc. in 2014.
Mr. VonDrehle grew up in Wharton, TX, a small town just 50 miles southwest of Houston. His family owns a cotton farm, and his mother was a counselor at his high school. Needless to say, he got most all of his formative training from her and his four younger siblings. He received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University in College Station, and is still proud to be a Fightin’ Texas Aggie (Class of ’04). He had so much fun that he decided to earn his Master of Science in Sports Management, which he completed in 2007.
Teamwork is important to him because since he began team sports as a child, he realized very few things pushed him to be at his very best than knowing he had to be at his best for his teammates. He says, “At Vital Care, we strive to embody that same mentality on the sales team and as an overall organization. We are a team and when we all push forward in the same direction we have and will continue to achieve amazing things!”
Christian says he lives by the life lesson that “until you experience something, you don’t really know anything.” Even as the oldest of five kids, every day his brothers and sisters continue teaching him new things about life and the importance of family. He married his beautiful bride Kelly in 2009, just before he started with NuCara Pharmacy. They have two sons, Eli Wynne and William Brooks. Mr. VonDrehle’s family is the driving force behind everything he does in life, and he enjoys nothing more than spending time with Kelly and their boys doing anything they love to do.
